Well, I officially had my first road bike accident 5 miles into my ride today. The bike survived, thank god, I got beat up pretty good.

Little cut near my right eye where my sunglasses got stuck in. Banged my right shoulder, hip and leg up pretty good. I never knew what road rash was until today, stings like a mother, but I am good.

I was going up a hill and decided to stand up on my bike and lost balance. It was fast and ugly, but we all survived, including Ravenwolf! Poor baby I think I gave him a heart attack. Any suggestions on how to go about learning to stand on a road bike will be greatly appreciated.

Daaayuum Bettia.... talk about no sympathy from the husband department. A spatula???? Had to clean up the Dr Pepper from my keyboard Wolfman. That was funny and the mark of a long term married couple. I got a lotta miles out of my wife's broken foot that happened while she walked around the boat dock stone cold sober. Bettia, I'd make him apply the neosporin 3 times a day. Also milk it so he has to cook and do laundry.

Yeah, yeah, tell me about! And he wonders why I am so feisty with him all the time...lol

He always wants to baby me when I am hurt, I am the one who says, leave me alone. He did all of the above with a frown yesterday...lol except for the laundry..hehe

Sorry you got hurt :(

I haven't managed to get the hang of standing up, so I can't help you.

I crashed my road bike the first day I got it - I couldn't get the hang of the clipless pedals.I had to cancel my fake tan appointment I had booked for later that day - road rash with fake tan is not a good look!

At least you seem to have managed to get your other half back on to FT.

Ummmm, I don't know if I agree with the better half part Ravenwolf, I pose as the better half...lol

I think we've been cursed with CBS (Chronic Bikers Syndrome. I read up on it, it's a bad, bad thing to catch and the only cure is to get up and keep on biking! lol!
