For the past three weeks i have been hitting the gym 5-6 days out of the week. I started out 173 lbs and i still am now 173 lbs. i haven't been eating junk food, just oatmeal in the morn, sandwich for lunch and a regular dinner. .nuttin too greassy or fried. I feel like i wasted 3 weeks. I have been mainly doing aerobic excercies for 20-30min and then lift weights 2-3 times a week. I am extremely dissappointed and want to kno if neone might know what i may be doing wrong.

Do you notice a 'visual' difference? It's possible you may be losing fat and replacing it with muscle. Don't judge what's been going on for the last three weeks by the scale. Use a tape measure or take some pictures. That's where you may notice a difference.

Take some pictures in your swimsuit.
Then measure your waist at belly button level, your thighs at the largest part 9usually up near your butt), your hips around the largest part, your upper arm around the middle, your calf, if you desire. Now, how about congratulating yourslef for your dedication to your workout and the healthier lifestyle you have adopted, not to mention that you are doing something good for your body that will help ward of lifestyle-related diseases and improve the quality of your life? The first six months is really the time you build a base and then all of a sudden, if you stay with it, results start coming like crazy. in the meantime, focus on how you feel - more energy? Better mood? Higher self-esteem because you are taking charge of your health? Be proud of yourself and feel sure in the knowledge that things will change. Sorry, somehow i completely missed the part of your post where you said what you eat.
Add some protein to your breakfast - egg whites and an egg scrambled, or lowfat cottage cheese/yogurt create 2 small protein based snacks for inbetween your meals, string cheese and an apple, maybe, or some nuts, cheese and veggies. or veggies and hummus. Point is - fibrous veggies or fruit, protein, good fat. At lunch, have a green salad or some cut up veggies on the side with your sandwich. Make sure you are using a whole wheat bread and lean sandwich meat. Drink a glass of water upon waking in the morning, and before every meal and workout. I hope you see some physical results soon! -------------- Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think. Benjamin Disraeli |

This has been discussed endlessly here on freetrainers - do some reading in the other forums - when you don't eat enough your body breaks down muscle tissue and stores fat. You get mushier and your metabolism slows down.-------------- Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think. Benjamin Disraeli |

That is high.
It is better to figure out how many calories you average daily and adjust from there. Cehck out the post "diet thread" in the nutrition forum. Like i said previously - this has all been discussed before, do some searching. -------------- Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think. change the white bread to a whole grain one...white bread is too processed...therefore mostly empty calories

It is not complicated.
eat close to the source - that means that the closer something is to it's natural state, the better it is for you, whole grains and whole wheat in place of white four products, vegetables and fruits in their whole forms, not juiced or mashed with sugar or made into pies, lean proteins from chicken fish turkey... there are lists in the nutrition forum that are very helpful. Plan 5-6 small meals a day - divide you plate into fourths - one fourth is lean protein, one fourth is starchy/complex carbs like rice or poatatoes, one fourth is beans, like black beans, and one fourth is vegetables, like broccoli. Drizzle a little olive oil on the evggies and you have a pretty decent meal. repeat. It is not complicated, it just takes some planning, but nothing worthwhile is accomplished without effort and planning. null happens. -------------- Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think.
