This is aimed at the people who replied alot to others. We have some people that tell newbies to do a fit search buddy & they will find the info that they are looking for.
Let's say they follow that advice & find a thread that is over a year old - then we have people telling them that the thread is dead could they find something newer
I was reading last night & it really got on my nerves on how rude these post sound. I'm confuse if something that is old isn't any good anymore but if that is so they why tell them to do the search in the first place

in my personal opinion, its all a matter of repetition. people just don't want to repeat something they've already outlined, so will forward newbies to the old thread. its not that the posts are worthless if they are old, however in some instances, when new research has been conducted, they may be out of date or need an addition. I think people should look carefully into their forwarding, and make sure the information is correct and still recognized.

They are complaing casue the older posts usually have been answered ad nausem and they open it up and offer advice. We want new members to search read and then ask questions. 50 new questions on the same topics are hard to keep answering

but then when they ask questions on the old threads - they get told that "the thread is dead" which is what made me think why do the search in the first place if that is the respond that you will get
To me it makes since to do the search - This is the first thread I started. I always do the search & find lots of ans but why ask question on an old thread if you are just going to be told it is dead - shouldn't the new question in the old thread be answer like a new post??

There is a difference in asking a question arising from a 3 year old post and answering one. If a member asked a question 3 years ago like "how many reps per movement and a newby answers 3 years later to do 12-10-8-6 it just seems kind of silly.
OTOH if a newby asks a question related to a post that they found on a 3 year old post, they have a better chance of getting an answer if they start a new thread.
I think when older members recommend fit buddy they are usually responding to the terminal creatine questions, ab questions or somthing like that that can be very easily researched in depth using fit buddy.

the post that got me was a year old & they wanted to know if this class was in their area - the person that responded didn't live near them (yea I checked)
I have seen this several times & that just really got to me last night - I spent the night wondering why did he even bother to say anything at all - I did send the person some info with the instand message but I felt if I said anything then I would look stupid since he called it dead
It is when they ask a question & the only answer is this is dead & they had a good question - why does a post have to be dead - we keep seeing the same question & the answers are in there (I have read several post that were old but still good)
Now the joke threads - I can see them dying
there is just so much good info that we should really do the search before asking & shoudln't have to feel bad for wanting to ask a question on it - if the facts have changed then it needs to be there for the person that isn't going to ask & just read(how many members don't comment??)

My main point on a newby tacking a question on to an old thread is that I think they will get a better faster response if they start a new one. I don't want to read a lengthy 3 year old post to get up to speed on where the newby is coming from.

charlie hit it on the head.....It only becomes very very very very annoying when someone 'helpful' answers a post that has been answered and that's very old....
also some people bring up a thread that has the answer already yet they ask it again instead of just scrolling up and reading the whole thread.....
if we tell a person to search the info and they bring up an old post and post their question their which has not been answered already then we're more than happy to reply....
I mean how many questions can you answer 'i want 6pack' 'i want to bench 1000 what do i do' and so on...you know?
