Well I am in need of some guidance here. I really need to loose weight and , as the title says, I don't know where to start. Do I start with tredmill, or weights, or...??? I don't really know I'm hoping someone out there can help me.

Lily-jo, welcome to FT....

You have come to the right place for guidance and help.

First off, sign up for a program here on FT. They are free and work.... also, keep an eye on what you eat. That is about the most important thing.

Fill out the nutritional tracker to keep an eye on what you eat and to see how you are doing in the calorie department.

Since you have knee and back troubles, I'm thinking light cardio would be a good start... if you have access to an eliptical machine that would be good as they don't jar the knees. Walking on a treadmill would be good too.

Do some research on FT with Fit Buddy at the bottom of each page.

Hope that helps... perhaps someone with more wisdom or knowledge could throw in some further advice...

Start with small goals....I mean very small...like let's say for example you are the sort of person who eats 10 cookies a day or drinks 5 regular sodas a day make a goal of "this week I will only eat 6 cookies a day or I will only drink 3 sodas a day" I know this seems like not much but it is the mini victories that bring the larger ones...
Rememeber as you said in your profile you struggled with your weight all your life...so don't expect it to come off in only a couple of months...slow and steady is what you want. Make lots of little short term goals write them down, and check them off as you complete them. Continue to make new ones every week. Don't forget that goals should be Specific, and have a time frame and don't make them unattainable and unreasonable (in 3 months I want to lose 60lbs). Start with writing down everything and I mean EVERYTHING you eat and drink a day...it is important to become aware of what is going into your mouth so that you can control you food and not the other way around.

Good Luck!!
