Okay I have a few questions and I hope I'm asking them in the correct topic.
1) Does a woman's menstrual period add any weight. Even if it is just a pound.
2) When someone is beginning to work out for the first time, can they gain muscle and does muscle add weight?
3) How do you find out fat percentage.
4) I'm trying to figure out the name of the machine I use and I know I can ask one of the trainers at the gym but was hoping I could find it out on the internet. Any suggestions for web sites?
5) What is a very effective machine you can find at the gym for weight loss?
Thanks in advance for helping me out!

1-yes...water retention can add a up to several pounds but usually normalizes
2-yes...added muscle adds weight but generally if you are burning fat as well the numbers will go down (or stabilize)
3-at your gym...
-body fat scale
-body fat calipers
-check out www.mybodycomp.com (fairly accurate)
4-don't know but just research
5-cardio equipment
-but remember you need to fuel your body properly
-added muscle increases your metabolism so resistance training is essential
good luck

What does this machine do? Is it with weights? Sitting? running? standing? arms up and down? In and out? Can you describe it?

It reminds me of a ski machine. It's like you are running, and you have these bars to hold on so that your arms are moving just as much. It's awesome.

sounds like an elliptical - do your feet stay on the machine?. they are really good calorie burners, because you're using your arms and legs.

I agree - if I had some more room I would buy one since it is better on your knees

Reddy, you can get folding ellipticals which take up hardly any room
