Hi, I really need to lose 100. I am pre-diabetic, I have had heart flutters, I have recently had trouble breathing, and this is all starting to scare me. I know my age says that I am 18 but I am really 14. And my almost boyfriend loves me for me, but I can't go with him because how can I love someone else If I don't love myself, and I can't expect him to love me if I don't love myself. If anyone has any suggestions on how I should go about my weight loss like daily exercise routines, please help me out. I really need it:(

First off, welcome to FT. You have already made the first step by joining this site. I would say to start yourself up with a beginner program here and get to work on the weights. Also, do a lot of research on this site in the diet section as that is a huge part of it (can't stress this enough). Check the post "Grocers List for a Body Builder" by BB1Fit in the diet section. This will give you a list of a bunch good foods you can pick up at the grocery store. If you mix a good diet and work hard in the gym, you will see results. Your desired results won't happen right away, but if you work hard, you will get there.
I hope you stick around, there are so many great people on this site who are willing to teach, support, and help you. |

I should also mention that you should consult your doctor before going on any program due to your health conditions. I do not know much about pre-diabeties or heart flutters, maybe someone else here could chime in.

It is so good you are here with these wonderfully supportive people and know that you are correct in knowing that you must love yourself first and you are worth loving, okay! I read your profile and see you are just a few pounds off from my weight of 228, so I can relate to your struggles, though I am a grandmother at 42 and can a l m o s t remember being 14, I know that no matter what the age, the extra weight can be hard emotionally as well as physically. You should find plenty of support here and great help. So, as Cygan said, check the exercise and grocers list, and I would like to support his statement that you should see a doctor, though I have a disease known as "runfromthemaninwhite", lol, there are times when it is pertinent, such as now. You mentioned pre-diabetic - when was the last time you were checked for this? It is good to be checked often! Sometimes just worrying about our health can cause us to stress and stress can cause the flutters! Why worry, just go get checked and talk to your doctor, he will listen if you talk to him/her and may have some wonderful suggestions to your weight loss program. My son, at 16, was having heart severe palipatations/flutters, though he was/is in the utmost health, we went through many tests to find out he was fine. The specialist mentioned that they are finding this very common with younger teens of late and often it is related to the soda drinks and those "high energy" drinks full of caffeine (though some is related directly to the drugs that are so prevalent). Even the nurse that did an echocardiogram on my son said her 15 yo son was scheduled for one the very next day due to palipatations! The doctor first had my son cut out all caffiene from his diet, meaning no chocolate, no pop, no caffiene - period. It is important that you look at your diet, if you look honestly at your food and drinks, can you see things that may contribute to the way your body may react to it? My son could drink just 1-2 pops a day and get the flutters, he was that sensitive. Stress? The doctor determined that it was between stress and the drinks that were creating his difficulties. He didn't think he had that much stress, but darlin', teens have stress, your bodies are changing, you worry about boys and girls and what others think, you deal with us parents, the difficult choices you have to make daily are challenges often. My son learned to go workout everytime he was upset rather than keeping it inside and to actually create a workout program to allieviate any stress he "may" have and not realize. Anyway, please make an appointment to see the doctor as you will feel better doing so and he may have some great idea's for your weight loss program as I mentioned. There are many factors to fluttering, diabetes, thyroid, diet, stress, etc. best to get down to the nitty gritty. In the meantime, you have a whole bunch of great people here that are rooting for you! Take care of yourself, you are beautiful and important to this world and by joining ft you have made a great first step! -------------- MISERY IS OPTIONAL SMILES FOR MILES |

Veda, Wonderful post! Shanie, Welcome to FT! As the others have said go talk to your Dr. also to add to the list that Veda gave, ask your Dr. to check for anemia as that can also effect ones weight. Another possibility would be if you are on any medications at the moment that your body may be reacting to. Join us in the Overweight Forum, we have alot of people here who are working together to help and motivate each other with this very difficult and personal problem of weightloss. One of the best threads to get in on is the latest "Monday Check In" thread. I have been overweight since grade school and know how hard it is to lose weight, though I found creative ways to get in "excesize" at school. If you go to a public school, and they allow back packs in the hallways. . . carry all or most of your text books with you all day, that extra weight on your back going down hallways, and up and down stairs if you have them is a great workout. Also, if you have "free" hours at school, talk to your guidance councelor about maybe fitting in an extra gym class. . . my junior/senior years of highschool I took at least 2 gym classes a day and I got down to a slim 160 pounds and a size 10 by doing those things I just mentioned. Just some ideas for you. I'll quit rambling now though:laugh: I look forward to chatting with you some more here! Oh, check out my Sig. and think about the mentality -------------- Love me as I am . . . Let me worry about how I look! |

At 14, or at any age you should not lose weight for love. One should lose weight for themself. Health is a bonus. If you don't like who you are, but you know what you want to be, you, the individual has to flip the switch. It may be in you right under the surface, or it may be buried deep...but since you are 14 and have already out lined loving yourself, the switch is not much further. Love is a word that describes the bond between two people, or two objects, the ONE true "love" is the one you have to create between your mind and body. You have to set small goals, when a person plans a vacation from LA to New York by means of car, they don't pick one path. There are many pitstops, detours, and hazards along the way. One eye is kept on reaching your vacation spot, but the other is kept on the next pit stop. If you shoot from half court you'll likely miss, if you pull up for the layup your odds are better. Consult your physician and/ or dietician, with heart flutters you are at an increased risk for developing ventricular fibrallations which left untreated and your heart can not beat itself out of it, is potentially fatal...your doctor will help you work towards your goal. Good Work"not luck- because it takes a lot to accomplish even small goals". I hope some of this helps.-------------- If hard work and persistence were the keys to success, most people would opt to pick the lock.~Dick |

Welcome to ft, Shanie!
See your doctor and start exercising gradually. learn to make healthier food choices. Cut out sugary foods and replace them with vegetables and whole fruits. Keep at it and you will see results and feel a lot better about yourself! -------------- If you fall down seven times, get up eight. |

Hi out there!
I am a 49 year old woman who is going to refuse to be old. I am over wieght and I want to slim down to no less than 150 lbs , in fact 165 would be good. I love cereal and have lost wieght in the past by eating cereal twice a day with a balanced meal in between. Is this healthy? I take vitimins and play soft ball. Am I on the right track do you think? |
