Challange Deadline

2004/05/27, 07:16 PM
I have lots of IM's for the challange. Only princesslodgey and amazon have sent stats for the BF and measurement part. LynndaMarie has entered the weightloss category. About 15 others have IM'ed that they will enter. Please try to get entry stats in by Monday so I can put out a post with the stats.

Again we are cutting and pasting stats from mybodycomp.com so that we can all play from the same page. I will only post BF% so the posts don't get too long. Don't send me BF stats that you don't want posted.

For the measurement points, keep your own score. Use your own criteria for whats good or bad. Give yourself 1 point for each 1 inch gain that you consider good like bicep, chest, calves. Do the same for each 1 inch loss that you consider good like waist, abdomen etc. We will let you be the judge of the positives and the negatives. We all have different goals. You may send me start/finish stats if you want verification but its not necessary. If the competition is close we will award percentage points for fractions of inch changes.

Send me BF% every 2 weeks and I'll post them.Do the same if you are only entering the weight loss part. I will post weight unless you tell me not to. If you don't want your weight posted it's ok. We trust you.

I hope by doing the challange this way we have a way for everybody who is interested in the motivation and fun to participate.

Dani will be back on Monday and told me she would compile and post the weight lifting entries.

I hope this suits everybody.

For those of you who have BF% calipers, send those %. If anybody other than BB1 says 6%, I won't believe you!

Hi, charlie826, I got your message from the other message board and I'm not sure exactly what is needed if you could email me I would be interested in the challenge starting next week. I don't have a way to measure % of bf, but from doing a check with height and weight have an approximate, does that work? I'll keep checking the messages here to see if I can find the rest of the info, but if you can let me know more I would appreciate it. Having a REAL bummer day today, ate a stupid brownie and am kicking myself, guess I gotta find the will to get on the glider...thanks.

Frugal,

Don't kick yourself to hard. It isn't a sin to have a brownie every once and again, but you have to keep track of it. It just goes towards your calorie count and you have to watch what else you eat today, to balance it out. If you tell yourself you can never have that stuff, psychologically it will make you want it more. Make goals and then reward. Keep it positive, and certainly don't look at your glider as a punishment or you will never want to get on it. Hang in there, it sounds like you are doing great.

As for the competition. I don't know if I can copy the whole thing, but I can give you a short run down.

The bodyfat/measurement contest. This is for percent change. The easiest way to record this information is to open an account at www.mybodycomp.com. It is free and it will calculate your BF% and record your measurements. Do not be discouraged if it says your BF is higher than you think it should be. A lot of people are having that experience.

The measurements are graded on a good loss good gain system. Losses around the abdomen, waist, and I think hips get a point for every 1/4 inch, and gains around the arm, chest, thighs, calves get a point for every 1/4 inch. However, if you keep track of the measurements on the site I gave you you will be fine, and someone else will do the calculations.

Finally there is a strength contest, overall, and some individual exercises. The overall is the three main powerlifts (Bench Press, Squat, and Dead lift) divided by your wieght and added togther. Than I think this is compared to your numbers at the end and the best improvement wins, I think. Then some are entering contests to see who improves the most in curls, pull ups and stiff legged dead lifts.

You will need to send your BF/measurements to Charlie and if you desire your 1 rep maxes (actual or calculated) with your body wieght to Datdanigirl. Do that this weekend and then every two weeks. I think Dani has a nice spreadsheet set up and who knows how Charlie has it set up.

I hope that helps,
If you have any other questions do holler

Hi Shawna!

I am just getting back from vacation and am getting all the competition stuff set up for the challenge.. two weeks off is perfect, I've slacked for the last two weeks myself but starting today it's eating right, exercising hard and good nights sleep through August 1.

If you are interested in trying to improve your performance on any specific exercises, I have the following categories so far:

bench press
deadlift
squat
leg press
barbell bicep curl
chin ups

Send me an IM if you have questions on how to submit and compete, it's good for anyone and everyone because you're measured on your improvement over the two months so there is your motivation!
