I am 19 years old...During my early teen years throughout high school I was the short pudgy kid EVERYONE picked on....I am only about 5'7 and at that time I was 5'4-5'5 and I was pushing 200 pounds....Decided it was time to make a change I went on a diet and exercise program that was not healthy for me at all however I did lose the weight I was 197 and I crashed all the way down to 112 pounds.....Since then I have put on a good bit of weight...I am working out with a nice program training hard eating pretty healthy and now I am walking around at 160....I decided I want to pursue boxing the sport I love so much and hold dear to my heart..So now I am training for that and hope to step in the ring for my first amatuer fight by the end of june or beginning of july i Think I will do extremely well in the sport of boxing. My endurance is impecable and my chin is like granite and I do not stagger.....Someday I wish to be the super middleweight champion of the world....Well a gold medal would be nice....I hear they are shiny....

I joined the Marine Corps in 1994 at 5' 11" and a whopping 140lbs. I was a track runner in high school, never big into weights. In 1997 I started working out and got up to about 180 lbs up from about 160. I really do not have a success story because I am still trying to get better. I guess my success story would be not winding up on the corner selling drugs. P.S. I do not believe a word of Neov's story.

I would say that my success since joining FT a few months ago has been slightly different - I have lost a few pounds (athough losing/gaining is not a goal of mine)but more importantly I have:
1.Stopped weighing myself everyday
2.Stopped calorie counting everything that passes my lips
3.Started giving my body the fuel it needs
4.Got happy with my reflection in the mirror
5.Made lots of cool friends :love:

My story is mostly in the goals part of my profile. I just wanted to say I used to pick on goldengloves. Now I pick on the princess.

Yeah but you know what GG sometimes the truth gets me in trouble. Sometimes I need to learn to keep my trap shut.

hecdarec - why don't you believe neov's story?

Anyhow - my success story is pretty much in my profile.
I just wanted to say that anyone who comes here and improves their health or their life is a success story! (was that too warm and fuzzy for my character?)

Although I'm new to FT, I've been working out for the last 21 months. I don't know exactly where I started because the scales at the gym only go to 350#'s, but based on the number of weeks it took me to get down to 350 I estimate that I was about 410 to 415 pounds. I'm currently about 210#. I don't know how low I can go, but since I like to bike, every pound I lose is a pound that I don't have to drag over the hills. I did my first bike race a few weeks ago, a 13 mile time trial. My goal was to do it in under 40 minutes, about 19.5 MPH. I stopped the clock at 35:56, averaging 22 MPH.

I started working out like a year ago. I was out of shape, drinking all the time and needed a change. I came to this site about 2 months ago, and now I'm addicted!! I can't get enough. I love it when the boards are busy, like today, but it's pushing my workout back a few mins. It's ok though, gives my food some time to settle.

Ah... success.... a journey, not a destination... forget where I heard that, but always thought it was a good line...

A few years ago a doctor sent me to 'diet class' because I had high cholesterol and was not in the best shape in the world. So, after that, changed the eating habits and lost a ton of weight... I'm not sure, but I think I was around 230 lbs or so. Certainly not healthy.

Then about a year ago I joined a fitness challenge (after a tad bit of arm twisting) and haven't looked back... it's a habit now and I feel guilty when I miss a day.

Here's the poop now:

- I've lost 20 pounds overall...
- Dropped my body fat by 12%
- Gained 2.2 pounds of lean body mass
- Dropped my fat weight by 30.2 pounds
- My hip girth went from 113cm to 104cm
- My waist went from 103cm to 87.5!

I'm diggin' the new pants!

I was about 220 pounds and probably well over 30% fat in 2001 pre xmas, smoker and drinker... gluttony and the easy life was my style.
Had a stroke causing a car crash near that xmas- brain troubles etc...
Today I'm 176 pounds and about 18% body fat. I am a non smoker, non drinker, eat plenty of fish and fresh fruit n veg... I am stronger in mind and body than I ever was. This week I have a grapefruit fetish.

Personally, I feel that every day that I keep to my diet and get to the gym is another success story. Perhaps I need to get higher goals? Anyway, I have over the years increased my muscle mass by about 41 pounds and am no longer a stick boy.

Next goal, have to buy all new wardrobe AGAIN!!! I love this lifestyle!
