I went to the gym on Tuesday. It is now Thursday. I feel like I got hit by a Mac truck. My muscles are extremely sore. I tried taking a hot bath with salts, taking Tylenol that has something in it to help with muscle soreness. That has helped a little.
On Tuesday, I did back exercises, chest, shoulder, biceps, and triceps. I guess I over did it. I only changed one routine for my biceps which my bro-in-law told me to sit on a seat and have an incline back and do biceps that way. I am a woman and so I used to do biceps standing up, 10lb weights well when I made the switch to doing them sitting down, I had to go down to 8 pd weights and that was hard but I still did them.
I go to the gym every other day.
But my main question is: should I wait till I feel better to go back to the gym? Till I don't feel sore anymore? Or should I go still and do the same routine but maybe less weight for my biceps? I don't know what to do....

I think if you are completely sore, take some time off.. rest and then get back at it... don't work a sore muscle is what I have been told!

vivavegas - do som cardio and light weights, you will feel better, I promise.
Recent findings indicate that working sore muscles is okay.

Since you did upper body on Tuesday and your sore. I would suggest doing legs today to give your upper body more time to recover. Doing light weights on your upper and some cardio will indeed make you feel better. It hurts to move sore muscles at first but it does help.

I know what you're talking about. I just finished my first week. MAN, I did not know that I was possible to be this sore. You ever see The Passion of the Christ, that's what I feel like. I've been hobbling around that house and work, it was so bad my boss was going to let me go home early.

deaddale - it won't be as bad the next time. The first real leg workout is a bi-atch, but if you continue you shouldn't be as disabled everytime.:)

I remember after my first workout. It was a Sunday morning and I was getting dressed for church. I had to have my wife button the top two buttons on my shirt! Man, I hurt. Haven't had much of a problem since except for leg day. Squats kill me for some reason. I find that Ibuprofen helps me better than Tylenol.
