Before anyone rags my butt, I couldn't figure out how to phrase this one for fit buddy. Anyway, I've been walking pretty regular for about a year now. I usually walk a mile in about 15 minutes. Starting Monday I'm on the run. I'm kind of anxious though. I have this fear that I'm gonna keel over from a heart attack. So if no one hears from me after Monday donations can be made to the American Heart Association. Wish me luck. BTW this has been a long term goal for me since last March.

Agamble I am no expert but I am sure you will do just fine. Obviously your fitness level has improved that you do want to start running and I am also sure your body will tell you when to stop pushing hard (but that doesn't mean you will croak over !!) So enjoy your run ,again happy birthday and here is to many more good years of feeling healthy and fit !

Go get'em buddy. I know it can be a bit nerve-racking. Take it easy your first few times out. Good luck.

Whew! Hold off on those donations. Completed my run this morning. Well my run-walk. Well something close to a run anyway. Came in about 13:30. Felt real good except for my pounding heart, bursting lungs, and tight legs. That is the first time I have ran in 17 years! (My neighbors, if they saw me, probably thought someone with a gun was chasing me LOL)I must have looked mighty funny. Felt like I had boots on. I'm definately going to have to work on my stride, technique, etc.

Congrats, agamble! It is awesome to start running - be sure you phase it in gradually so you don't get shin splints!!!
Keep it up!

Congratulations agamble. So cool to hear. Keep the pace, improve as you can. Don't push yourself to exhaustion the first few times out. Let your endurance build a bit with each session, before you know it you will be out running trying to beat record times. Remember, you are in this for the long haul. Again many high 5's to you. Successes are cool.
