I am ashamed and embarassed by myself , I attempted to do chinups today and I could only do 2 at a time.....for 3 sets
Anyone else have trouble with chinups?

Don't give up. Chin ups/ pull ups are tough on all of us.
If you can only do 2, so be it. eventually you will be doing 4-6-8-10. Be persistant. The only other advice is to do them at the beginning of your routine. You may also have someone help you buy holding your legs and helping you up.
Hope this helps and good luck.

Yeah, it will come. Eventually. Some people will have a lot harder time with it than others though, depending on your build. I know I've been Wt training for about 8 years & I'm happy to get a set of 5. But I could stand to lose 30#s too - I'm sure that would make it MUCH easier.

Oh you are not alone.. I actually shuddered when I saw them in my workout.. managed a shaky 2.5, and promptly replaced them with those that fryer listed.

HOWEVER.. after reading all the supportive posts above, I have decided to make this one of my new goals.. I wonder how long it would take to get to 10??

I don't have access to those machines that take off some of the weight. it's one of those workout towers with the bar and a space for vertical knee raises etc

Well thanks for the support everyone , i want to know if i should only do chins and pullups on back days ,if i do them more than once a week is that over training my back?

I do chinups on arms days, tris, bis, shoulders & chest, but I don't know what's proper.

As far as progression, you're normal. They're hard. I started in July 2002 doing 1 1/2. Could do no more. Now, if I'm rested, I can knock out between 7 and 10. It'll come, just keep working it.
