i'm about 5'9 and barely tip 120 lbs, i'm in pretty good shape, and def don't have a problem with my weight...but when i sit my thighs just expand to no end...they look huge, and very disproportiante to the rest of my body...esp in shorts/skirts/baithing suits in the summer. any tips??
one more quick Q...in the section where you can check to have the 12wk abs, i also clicked to have glutes and calves worked on too...but they're no longer checked when i view my selections...? thanks guys |

This could be due to your Genetics. There aren't really any exercises you can do to target a certain body section for weight loss. Some people just hold their weight in different locations. For women its generally the hips. I'm not sure what your BF% would be, but Perhaps hit some Cardio for awile, and this may help. If this isn't about extra Lbs (cause at 5'9 @120lbs your not carry alot of Fat) then maybe hitting Legs/Hams/Glutes for awhile will help, try and tone up and firm up your Lower Body. Ohh and How do you look standing up? |

thanks for the help...ugh, genetics suck!
i used to run track (before i was out on injury) and that was, obviously, hard core cardio, but I still had this explosion of fat in my thighs when i sit down. standing up my legs are fine, and it's just my thighs, my calves are skinny enough. it's only sitting when the problem occurs. hmph |

Welp, read around in the Womans/Females forum and youll get some good info on butt and thigh questions. Or you can type in "thighs" or "butt" at the bottom in the 'fit buddy search' thingy and itll pull up some good results for ya: what i have read most i got this:
Work Lunges, Squats, Inner thigh machine, Outter thigh machine. Those help a bit....but like i said, read in the womans forum and if all else fails, ask a question there :) Best of luck! |

I was in exactly the same position as you, in my 20's I noticed the thigh expansion when I sat down.. worked at it here and there but didn't apply myself enough to see strong benefits (I was still in darn good shape).
Then came the 30's -- and it started spreading!! Affects how your pants fit, moves to the butt.. I worked out hard for over a year, got really tone and defined, lost an inch in my waist, hips narrowed.. But those pesky thighs are the very last thing to go, and only by closely following the nutritional advice and combination of resistance training/high intensity interval training recommended here have I FINALLY broken through that plateau and started to see results. Start now.. you'll be SO GLAD you did later!! : ] Danielle -------------- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Firm Butt Thin Thighs Flat Abs - repeat this mantra as needed whenever an unhealthy urge arises. |

well, "the last thing to go" was not quite the answer I was hoping for...but I'll manage :-P thanks a lot for the advice. recently i have been keeping better track of what i'm eating (again, not for weight loss, just general health) and I'm really trying to stay consistant with workouts - this better pay off!! :-P

I am only fourteen, but there is alot of peer pressure from others my age to look a certain way... so I have been in track for the last two years and cant seem to lose my thighs. My weight lifting coach told me to do lateral squats ( w/ out adding weight ) but that isn't helping. I need something other than lunges/squats and cardio, bc that is what I have been doing and I see no progress  !-------------- ~Sloan~ |

I'm seeing the biggest improvement in my legs since I've been working out. I'm actually starting to see some seperation in the different muscles of my quads. This is what I did (my leg workout has changed).
leg extensions laying leg curls inner thing machine outer thigh machine dumbell squats dumbell deadlifts standing calf raises I pyramid with the heaviest weight I can do for reps 15-12-10-8 or failure, depending on how I feel. I know it looks like a lot but that's what worked for me. I did this workout 2xs per week (M-Th). Also on leg days I do lighter cardio. Maybe only the elliptical for 1/2 hr. because my leg workout is so exhausting. Other days I do cardio for 1 full hour with 5 min. cooldown. As for you younger girls, please remember that you still have a lot of growing to do. Your bodies will balance out in the next few years and you'll probably look great! Just remember to eat healthy as well as exercise. No dieting. Dieting deprives your bodies of nutrients that you will need to give you the bodies you want. Give it time and you will see. |

I am 57 and have lost 24 lbs and 22.5 inches overall. 3 inches in the hips. I lost about 1.5 in in the thigh area but my thighs are saggy baggy skin. What is the best exercise or can this actually ever be tightened up at all?
Same with upper arms. |

enter loose skin into the search engine at the bottom of the screen (fitbuddy). This has been discussed a lot.:)-------------- Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragements, and impossibilities: It is this, that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak.
