I wa sin bio class today as we discussed celluar resiration. We did carbs, and fats how they are broke down into engery etc. When it got to protein I discovered somthing intresting.... That we protein is broken down at the end of the reaction it produces amonia( NH3) then the body adds water to that to make it urea, a less toxic form from the liver. But this puts alot of stress on the kidneys filtering out the urea out of the blood? I eat a high protein meals just as many people on here do, but I want my interanl body part to be healthy as well as outside............any thoughts?

There is usually more stress on the kidneys when protein consumption goes up for sedentary individuals...not active or athletic people. As you already know, protein is used for re-building and repairing muscle tissues/fibers and the excess is discarded by the body. Without protein, we might as well not go to the gym.

You will know it's a problem if you start to smell it when you urinate. Robert's right. If you are active you'll never have to worry about it unless there is an underlying problem.

The weight training athelete goes through catabolism on an almost daily basis. Thus, our protein needs are much higher than those of a sedentary individual. Drink plenty of water, train hard, and starving muscles will make use of that protein, and what isn't used for that purpose will be used for needed glycogen restoration or expelled from the body.

Slow your roll smart-ass. Get over yourself and post something that is worth posting. I don't care what your compulsion is about spelling, don't ever post such an insult to someone who meant no harm. You CAN understand what he is saying so lay off. You obviously are being rude and have your own issues going on, but don't take them out on innocent people who had no intention of offending anyone. Your remark is offensive and condescending. ANDREW, use ARGININE to flush out excess amonia.
