What is the best approach for burning 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches off my waist to showcase my abs? I don't want to lose any muscle. I'm not overwieght. I'm about 6'1" and 188-192 lbs. So, i don't need a major diet, i just need to burn the last few pounds of fat off without losing muscle. I know that cutting all carbs, since i want to maintain muscle, probably isn't the best approach, so what is? And when should I do cardio? Morning, Night? How many times a week (I do 20 min. HIIT cardio and also lift weights 3-5 times a week)?

I've read that doing cardio in the morning before you eat burns the most fat, but then I think BB1 spoke out against that. I'm not sure. Maybe he can help you.
Also, I guess you wanna eat most carbs in the morning and salads at night. I'm not sure if you should cut back on fats or notthough. I'm not really sure about how to burn off the last layers of fat. Hopefully I've been a little helpful, and maybe BB1 or someone else can assist me with assisting you.

BB1 did not speak out against that, he simply said not to do the cardio on a completely empty stomach. Cutting down, not out, on carbs will help. Cut back on saturated fats. If you want to keep the muscle mass, I wouldn't suggest upping the cardio.

Well said jdelts. The bottom line, create a caloric deficit, without it you cannot ever tap into your fat stores. A suggestion as to how to structure your carbs/fats in this manner for optimal metabolizing of both would be carbs in the earlier part of the day(your complex type and starchy carbs), and then switch to your fats late afternoon and evening along with fibrous carbs(lots of veggies). Both along with lean protein of course.
