First off hi everyone...i haven't been on here in a while...and i was just wondering, what do all you guys do when you crave a food. I come from a house of over-weight parents and all they want to do is shove their face...i come home and im determined to stick to a diet plan...i open a cupboard door for my healthy food...and there it is the most dreadful thing i would want to see...CANDY!!...what keeps you guys from reaching for it...i feel good when i walk away...but feel guilty when i walk back to sooth away my worries with a handful of sugar.....im tired of feeling guitly...im lookin for inspiration i guess!

Richard, I discovered splenda. I was also drafted when I was 18 and my folks cupboards were no longer an option. LOL . Seriously though for me not getting hungry works best. If I load up on good food its much easier to resist the bad. Talk w/ your folks . They may surprise you with a solution.

Yes I admit it can be hard........
For how many days are you staying with your parents? The last day allow yourself to eat a little bit of this delicious candy, so on the other days while craving you'll know that SOON you can have some...

Richard,
One of the biggest motivators to stick to a nutrition plan, quit smoking, stop drinking, etc., is SUCCESS in your exercise plan. When you bust your tail at the gym pushing weights and doing cardio, it is FAR from worth it to go home and blow it all by doing things counter-productive to your exercise program.
Also, with regard to food, choosing other foods is a good idea. Eat low-glycemic foods that level out your blood sugar over a longer period of time, and this will help keep the cravings down, as well as your overal appetite.

Hey Richard, glad to have you back. I missed reading your posts. Hope everything is well with you and your family. Personally, I got hooked on fruit...and ice cream (in moderation on my cheat day)...and nuts...and I make frozen watercicles with Splenda. Oh, and I bite my tongue real hard when all else fails. There should be a law against some of that candy...SOOOOOO GOOD! Very addictive.

Hey Richard,
Sweets cravings are hard!
I drink crystal light, or I make a cup of Diet (sugar-free) hot chocolate. When I have them on hand, I cut a nitro-tech low carb protein bar (I like the ones that are sort of whoppper flavored, the name slips my mind right now, haven't had them in a while)anyhow, I cut a chocolate type protein bar into m&m size pieces and pretend i am having candy (how sad is that?).
Sometimes I will have just a bite of the item I am craving, and that is enough. But other days I know that if I start, I won't stop, so I turn around and head for the cardio equipment, afetr about ten minutes, I don't really have the craving anymore.
Good luck and "STEP AWAY FROM THE CANDY CUPBOARD!"
