you are right about the sugar in dairy products. I noticed that about nonfat yogart I was amazed at the sugar content. Excess sugar=fat

As you can see by my status I'm a "novice" on here, but I do know a little about carbs, etc. In general, most foods that are "light", "low fat" or "no fat" will have increased carbs. Basically, they take out the fat and replace it with sugar/carbs to keep the taste, etc. that removing the fat affects.

If you're watching your carbs, you are better off going with the "regular" of any food and choosing healthy foods in general and watching your portion sizes. Although, if I remember correctly, low fat cottage cheese is high in protein and low in carbs.

Another thing I've found is that for whatever reason women seem to see the effects of carbs=fat more/faster than men. I don't know why that would be but almost all women I know who struggle with their weight are major carb addicts as well. :-)

Why not try some soy milk or yogurts? Less carbs and more proteins....

This is dependent on your calorie needs. If the carbs are able to be fitted into your calorie scheme, then you can get away with it. Try to make it a point to keep simple carbs down to a minimum, and make the majority of your carbs complex and fibrous. Doing this will avoid any unecessary insulin responses, thus most probablly the possibility of fat storage. Not all carbs are bad, and some are needed for a healthy, sound diet, let alone energy. The only time simple sugars are good is post workout. So be smart in your choices.
