I know this has probably been asked before but I can't seem to find it on a search. I was just wondering if feeling sore after a workout is necassary for optimal gains or if your still building muscle if your not sore. Thanks

Justin, I'm not a Ft pro but can refer you to a post of mine that touched on soreness after your workout, it is under the same heading & the post is "must be doing something right", hope this helps since you couldn't find it on a search, allthough I'm sure you will get replies to this post answering your question, hope mine helps in the mean time. Best of luck.

DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) is not necessarily the sign of a good workout. Not everyone gets this, and especially so after you have been training for a while. If you push things hard and feel it while training, the last couple reps or so very hard to complete, then you are doing fine.

Everyone is different. I have met people who get sore the same night as the day they lifted, then there are those who are sore the next day. A kid I graduated with didn't get sore in that body part till 2 days later. Some people don't feel soreness but they feel a burning while they lift. So it isn't a sure way to measure if you are getting anything out of working out.
