Are there any runners out there?
I injured my shoulder (torn deltoid and/or bicep tendons) at work and am awaiting surgery. I tried to do a light workout, and discovered a whole new meaning for the word "OUCH". Not to appear overly stoopid, I quit lifting.
But I can still run.
Thing is, I don't really know what supplements to take to help my endurance. Creatine works well, even for running. But are there other things that may work as well or better??
Thanks in advance!
P.S. Not lifting sux (as my daughter says)!

I'd keep taking my daily protein shakes to try keeping my muscle mass.
Now I personally sometimes take an ECA stack just before a long run for instant energy (but you can just take a black expresso..).

sorry to hear bout the arm, I feel your pain. Though, for running endurance there really are not any supplements to to use. But, there is really no need for them. If you just push yourself long and at decent speeds on runs, than it won't take long at all to get some substancial endurance. OH, and don't forget the carbs, (as you no, when running they ARE NEEDED!)
PS: there are always the quick results of hitting some altitude running, if willing to visit some mountain air

Well I find that if your lookin for endurance help. You might laugh or think its funny, but i find that coffee about 1/2 hr before you run will help you with your endurance. Or i find it helps me anyways. Try coffeee, or if you don't like coffee, soda, or any caffinated beverage. Caffiene is a great and often overlooked stimulant.

Actually I believe running endurance just comes from doing it. Like getting onthe treadmill, when you first start you are limited in your time, but as you do it more and more your max VO2 increases and thus endurance. I say, Run Forest, Run!

No!!!! do not drink soda! drinking soda is like instant liquidation for your cardio. you might get the temperary caffiene high but in the long run it will hurt A LOT more than it will help. Coffee ain't that hot either, though not as bad. Take this from a varsity cross sountry runner.
alomost anything is better for you than soda when it comes to running.

I've never attempted drinking coffee before running myself, so I can't talk out of facts for that one. I've only heard negative things about coffee. But you may be right and it might be good. I dunno. But ya runnersworld is deffinitely the site to resort to for this question.
