ok,
so i'm taking a strength training class for my last kinesiology credit because i thought, hey, this will be easy because i'm a workout freak.

turns out, to get the full number of points for the class, you have to be able to do 5 overhand grip pull-ups, which i cannot do.

bottom line is, i want to be able to do this and i have about 10 weeks (or less) to make this a reality. how in the heck can improve my upper-body strength enough to do this in such a short time??

PLEASE HELP!!

You can start by doing one, if you don`t have the stregnth, ask somebody to spot you and help you up.
Also you might want to do pushups.

Beleive you can, and you are halfway there.

Lol I know that battle too!!
I worked HARD do be able to do those darn pull ups and to get somebody to spot you (and do negatives) is really the only way.
Good luck!!

At my gym they have a nice piece of equiptment that can counterbalance your weight by increments. I've been using that to get in three sets of ten pull-ups, without it I max at about three sets of 5-6.

Otherwise, ravenwolf's plan works too, I used to do that. Except I just put a chair in front of me (I have one of those door jam pull-up bars at my house).

I think this post may have inspired me. I just made a new record for myself of 11 unassisted pull-ups. I'm not sure how, but I'm happy!!!

At my gym there is a machine that us used for assisted dips and assisted pull ups...I started out not being able to do any unassisted pull ups, but I have been working with this machine that can counterbalance your weight, and now I am up to 10 unassisted....It took me a bit of time to get there, but it also has to do with the combination of upper body exercises I am doing with them.
