Hi - I've notice that many of the people on this site are quite fit already and just looking to build muscle or loss a few pounds. Anyone on here more than 30lbs overweight? Also has anyone tried any great supplements or weight loss programs lately? I just ordered Hot Rox - I'll let you know how that goes. I need to jump start my weight loss - I'm looking to lose 50+lbs. I play tennis 2-4 times a week (singles and doubles) - but will be adding cardio and better food choices. Any advice? Thanks.

There are quite a few of us, my goal is just under 30# now. There are several members who have already lost well over 100#. Every pound is significant, from 1-300! Good luck to you and all of us.

I 45lbs over weight, and I've already lost 35lbs since I started "trying" for the first time more than a year ago. I agree with Victoria...every pound counts whether you want to lose 1 or 300. My advice would be to skip all the pills and add in weight lifting and clean up the diet. In all my time trying to lose, I found that the pills were nothing but a waste of money. I've have much better results with good old fashioned dedication and work.

WOW! LOL! I just read my post above, and I'm cringing at all the grammar errors! My mom would have my head if she knew I typed that. While growing up, she always corrected my pronunciation and grammar. ;) Sorry all. :p Hope it's understandable.

Tip: If you must drink soda switch to diet. Best thing is to drink water and if you dont like drinking water add a twist of lime to it to give it flavor.

i read this somewhere and if anyone has read this can they remind me of what it exactly says that to loose weight you ahve to drink 8 glasses of water a day plus one glass for X number of pounds you want to loose. i want to say that the X number is 10 pounds. correct me if i am wrong folks.

I have always heard that you should drink 1/2 oz per pound of body weight. So if you weigh 200 pounds you should drink 100 oz of water per day.

Deby, that is exactly what I was told as well. I try to drink 100oz a day. There are 8oz in a cup, so that's roughly 12.5 cups of water a day.

I have a 64 oz cup at my desk, that I fill up in the morning and usually again after lunch. I figure if I get more than 100 oz, it should be okay because I really really sweat when I workout.

I did a little researching on the net yesterday this is what i read on two websites:

8 glasses of water to maintan your body weight and 1 glass of water for every 25 pounds you want to loose.

addiitonally if you work out or exert yourself do include extra water for that in addition the amount needed by the equation above.

The 8-8oz rule is a MINIMUM. The more you can drink the better. I try to get around 150 oz a day, which is a little more than a gallon.

The average for water consumption is usually about 9 cups for females and 12c for males. For those coffee alcohol drinkers you should have an extra cup for every cup of coffee/alcoholic drink.
Early signs of dehydration-headache, fatigue, loss of appetite, dry mouth and eyes, dark urine (should be light straw coloured. By the time we actually feel thirsty we are already about 1% dehydrated (1% loss of body weight)

I don't know how there can be an 'average'. A woman who weighs 200 lbs needs more water to stay hydrated that a woman who weighs 100 lbs. Everyone wants to make excuses to not drink water. Best thing to do....give up all other beverages and drink good old H20!! Your body will love you for it!
