Has anyone ever witnessed a death in the gym or have witnessed anyone getting severely injured. If so please give details because I am curious to know if this type of stuff is prevalent in other areas other than here in Florida.

I can't think of a better place to die. Hope it happens to me when I get old :D

No, never, and hope I never do! I did see a guy just black out for unknown reasons, an ambulance came and rushed him away, but he was back the next day.

We go to the YMCA and sometimes there may be a an older person having problems but other than that no deaths, don't even want to witness that.

It happens quite a bit in Fla. In fact there was just a death in a gym here...24 hr fitness and I know someone who is going to serve as an expert witness in the case and the trainer may be in a world of shit over it. Certainly the facility will most likely get sued. It is truly sad that there are cases like this and in fact there are many cases of negligence in alot of the gyms here and it is due to AMATEUR TRAINERS who should NOT be training people. Also check your trainers qualifications and experience!!!

I just cannot comprehend people frequently dying in gyms. now thats an oxymoron!

My uncle died in the gym - on a treadmill - burst aorta. It had nothing to do with his level of fitness or activity, just some bad plumbing, but boy did it cause a lot of unfair noise to the gym. On the good side, the trainers reacted instantly, did every possible correct life saving measure - alas, there was nothing that could be done.

My grandfather died from the same thing only he was at home. There really is no warning signs with that either. Unless you have an MRI or a Dr. listens for blockage. It's a damn shame but I know he didn't suffer much.
