I have hockey games on thursdays in the evening (starting at 8:30 ending about 9:30) and was curious what should I eat afterward and how much protein, fat and carbs. I'm 19, 6'2" and currently am trying to gain lean mass. I know too many carbs in the evening is bad, but how many in this case is ok for not putting on fat? Thanks for the help

hockey is pretty sternuous, and you are growing. Eat a decent meal afterwards, i don't think you will get fat. Just make sure the carbs come from complex sources like vegetables or sweet potatoes and maybe brown rice rather than bread or pasta. For example - a chicken breast, some steamed broccoli and some brown rice.
If you feel like you are gaining weight from eating after practice once you switch to the above, you could switch to just protein, like lower fat cottage cheese or a large chicken breast, or a lean hamburger patty with salsa. Good luck!

Depending on your goals, sometimes working out at night maybe the best option. I used to workout around midnight, go home and drink my post workout shake (about 800 kcals). I'd go and cleaned up, and then relax and wind down (about 1 hr). Then, eat a high blended protein meal, and hit the hay. Never got blubbery, and had good gains.

In other words, asimmer is right. Do what works for you, and don't always take what mags tell you as gospel...
