Which part exactly do you want to know about. how much food are you taking in now? Don't starve yourself1
All of the info depends on your mass and what you have been doing calorie wise and carb amount-wise.
Email me with your stats and info and I will help as much as i can. bbfit1 has given me a lot of helpful tips on competition stuff, also.

First off run as fast as you can away from the "experts" who told you to starve yourself and not drink water!

Whoa!!! the worst thing you can do is almost exactly what you are doing! When you make that major of a cut immediately, you lose a large amount of muscle right off the bat! Easy on the caloric cut. One of the biggest mistakes in contest dieting. And the other is just as bad, cutting back on the weights, and lowering your weights and doing more reps. Cardio is good, but you did not build your physique with cardio, did you?

The goal is to maintain bodyweight, but to slowly lose bodyfat while actually increasing lean tissue from your training, improved diet and supplementation. One of the biggest mistakes is to make too big a calorie cut too fast. Assuming of course you are not WAY out of shape. An instant caloric drop of the proportion you did causes alot of tissue loss right off the bat. Your goal is to add calories and nutrient DENSITY first. You kind of missed this point, this is about 16 weeks out you should do this. At about 12 weeks, you should slowly begin to lose weight. Adjust your calories down by 200-500 to acheive your desired weight loss.At your early contest prep, keep cardio somewhat minimized. If you do too much cardio too soon, your body adapts and you have no way to up your cardio even more. Probably 20 minutes 4 times per week is sufficient at this point. Again, assuming you are not too out of shape. Send an email if you like....

And lift as heavy as you can for as long as your energy levels allow it - you don't want your body to think it doesn't need the muscle mass anymore by switching to light weight. At least that is what I heard, bbfit1 what do you think.

In total agreement! By all means, do not drop your weights. Keep up the heavy weights, if you drop your weights, you are setting yourself up for muscle loss. The body will adapt. As long as you are taking in adequate protein, you will keep feeding your muscle, keep the size, and lose the fat. Make sure at this point to start switching your carbs to more fibrous type, ditch all sugary and most all starchy carbs, any starchy carbs i.e...try to have right around your workout. How many weeks out are you, and what is your bf% now?

At 9% bf, you sure don't want to cut 1000 calories off your diet just like that. You need to try to maintain mass, while slowly losing fat. At your bf level, I would keep cardio down to a dull roar till about 6 weeks out, keep your weights up, and change your diet to protein dense nutritional foods, and keep your carbs as low as you can without anything suffering(carbs should be fibrous ones of course, along with some complex/starchy carbs like oatmeal, brown rice, black beans, and sweet potatoes structured mostly around your workout times. You need to find your maintenance calories. I would stay at this calorie level till about 6-8 weeks out, then increase the cardio by a minimum of 10% each week, throw in some HIIT style, and start your comp diet, high protein, fibrous carbs during the day, 5 meals with incorporating a 6 th carb meal twice per week to keep your metabolism honest and workouts from going to the pits. Good luck to you.
