hi... i just started an advanced bodybuilding program made by former champion Bill Pearl. It is Monday through Sat, and he has you doing Abbs every day... I have heard that you shouldnt do this if you want good abb results, but i think Bill Pearl should know what he is talking about... Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday are 4 excersises, one set each, and wdnesday is 3 excersises 4 sets each... Is this good?

my first question is how intense are the daily ab exercises?

mon, tue, thr, and fri are no resistance besides lower abs, and wdnesday is more intense with some resistance... wednesday is the only real intense abb routine, the rest of days are not that intense...

Don't ever do the workouts of champion bodybuilders. EVER. You would think that they know what they're talking about because they're enormous, but that's not always true. Truth is, when you've got genetics like those guys and you're jacking yourself up on sick amounts of juice, it doesn't matter what your routine is like. In fact, anabolic steroids, due to the massively increased recovery time, allow a trainer to workout far longer and more often than normally possible. Chances are Mr. Pearl's workout is built under those circumstances. Don't assume that champions know what they're talking about, it is often not true. And yes, training abs everday is counterproductive to the average trainee, as is training six days a week (in my opinion). The load in the workout, ironically, sounds low, though. What are your goals? Mass?

Yes my goal is mass... It did seem to me that the workouts he gave were far too long, and the same muscle groups three times a week... I have heard from several champions that you must work each muscle group at least two times a week, but from my own experience i have realized you should only work each one once a week for full recovery time... I guess if you take steriods youre recovery time is faster... It all makes sence now... Thanks alot guys!

There are a few situations where working a muscle group more than once a week is positive, but those workouts are usually very low in volume. An example would be full body workouts 3 times a week where only a few sets are done per muscle group on each day.
