I just thought I might put something on here about diet because too many people disregard this and focus mainly, if not entirely, on training. To help those understand what the proper diet does:
If you're having trouble realizing what kind of role diet plays in any form of training, fitness, bodybuilding, weightlifting, think of your body as a machine, such as an automobile. Don't look at food as just food, think of it as more of fuel for your body. If your goal is to pack on mass, you must feed your machine with more fuel, good and bad. If it is just to pack on muscle, you should feed it with better quality food, but you can't forget to have some form of calories and carbs for energy, otherwise your body is going to feel drained. Doing this will completely change your perspective on how and what you eat. Your diet must change just as drastically, maybe if even more so, than your training in order to achieve your goals. Think about it; if you want to pack on mass and your not feeding your body enough, you'll never reach that goal. Sure you might add a few pounds of fat, but you can always burn it off, just don't over do it. If you're trying to lose weight you can do all the cardio you want, but if you're loading your body with too much fat and too many calories, you'll never drop that weight. Calories are not going to convert into something like protein, this is why you must focus on what you are putting into your "machine". Just thought I'd speak a little about diet since many people overlook it too often.
