What is the best supplements to take when you are just starting out your program. I am trying to gain muscle mass. Does creatine work? Protien shakes? I would like to supplement my routine with something that will help me along.
Thanks for the help!

WOW! A pound of protein per pound of body weight. Yeah, I'd say you'd gain mass pretty quick! ;)
Really, the only supplement you NEED is simply more food. If I had to choose one supplement over everything, I'd choose a good MRP (meal replacement powder). They have everything you need to sustain a positive nitrogen balance and anabolic environment in your body. Its easy to use, too. Just buy the kind that come in their own individual envelopes so you don't have to carry a 5lb container with you.

I've read a good many places that what you should get should look like this. Go down the list and add more if you have more money to spend. Get just the first if you don't have more money.. the so on.
-Carb drink or powder(take this right after a workout) -Protein (take with carb drink or carb powder if you have enough money to spare) -Creatine (if you still have money left over) -Glutamine (now you're starting to spend lots of money) -Weirdo new products out there (You just like to spend, spend and spend some more) -Human growth hormones (You're sponsored by a huge protein company and make way too much money )
Simple carbs are the most important thing after a workout, then protein comes after that. Creatine and Glutamine help alot, but aren't necessary when starting out. All the rest of the stuff out there might be good, but it cost so much, that I wonder if it's really worth it...
ps... I was just kidding about the growth hormone thing :)

Oh for me the very best supplement to start with is MICRO NUTRITION!!!!! Take your vitamine pills and eat healthy and your body will have all the necessairy fuel to build up muscles. Don't worry and save your money for the other things later on.

Yeah, I forgot that the very FIRST thing should be to eat right when trying to build good quality muscle :)
Can't get anywhere without the proper nutrition.
