i am 16 yrs old and i weigh 180lbs. I want to loose weight so bad before i graduate high school the only problem is , is that i have no type of support. Everytime i tell my parents i am going on a diet they laugh at me and say i just need to stop eating all together. Them not supporting me is causing a major downfall on any type of progress. Can someone please help me. And if anyone has any type of story about loosing weight and if this program has helped you in any way please share. I would love to hear from you.

thanks:)

Welcome as jnellie explained pretty good for support you got it here every one here is trying to improve themselves some way, you are no different. As far as your parents go once they see the change in you they may come around to realise you are serious. Do it for you and no one else, eat right and exercise to make you the best you can be. That in its self will give you confidence and self esteam. Good luck to you. If you have questions along the way just post there are a lot of great people here in the ft comunity.

Man, I am really saddened to hear that parents are not supportive of their children's efforts and intent to get healthy.

My 17 year old is 6'3" and 240 lbs. Of course he is a high school linebacker, so he HAS to stay in shape. But my 12 year old and I just got back from the gym. Today was her first training day. We are getting her started with low weights and cardio and she loved it.

Look guys, any encouragement you need, you'll get it here.

Congratulations on your success jnellie. I see you have worked very hard.

bunsofsteel,
Three things to consider when you want to accomplish any kind of goal.
Desire, drive and determination.

Be honest with yourself, take a good look in the mirror naked. You desire to lose fat.

The drive part comes in with getting as much information about cardio, bodybuilding and nutrition. Put all these things together and apply them daily.

Determination means that nothing can stop you in reaching your goal. You have a bad day get yourself back on track. Learn from your mistakes. If you never fail you would never know what success would be like and how great it feels.

Since March 7, 2002 I have lost a total of 28 pounds all of it was fat. My strength has increased and my level of cardio has went up as well.

You can do it! Forget about the negativity. Set short term goals. Posting here took courage and you will get all the support needed here.

:) Melissa

Bunsof steel, I am sorry to hear that your parents are not supportive. I would never tell a child this, however, don't pay them any mind on this one. If you want to get into shape then you go for it. How far do you live away from school? When I was in highschool, I lived about 3miles from school and would walk home. This will help in your cardio. Do you have access to a gym or some free weights. We will be more than happy to help you out. You can email any one of us or just ask on the forums. Good luck and look forward to hearing your progress.

=============

Extremely light weights. I mean, minimal resistance. She is through puberty, 5' and 105 lbs. I checked with her pediatrician and she has a trainer that specializes in young teens.

The only thing I am trying to achieve is to instill good physical fitness habits. It is easier to be proactive than reactive. It is something we can do together that is just for us.

When I was losing weight, I got the same type of feed back from my co-workers. Everybody was almost laughing at me when I started. I very quickly learned to use their doubt as motivation. I made it my personal mission in life to prove them all wrong. Now that I've lost all my weight, I use their jealousy as motivation. Now, go kick some a$$ and take names. Good Luck

It all comes down to one very important thing; Yourself!
Once you really accept the fact that you want to make the changes for yourself, the rest is just a matter of time.
Thousands of others have done it, and you can too.

I think dsarco is right. Sometimes when people aren't happy with themselves they will be negative towards other people. Just believe in yourself and know that the changes you make are for you. You can do it!
