I currently do my weights 5 days a week.

Would it be ok to do day one upper body, day two lower body, three uppper, etc. What are the down sides to doing this if their are. This is what I used to do when I was active in sports. Much different then my ft plan however thou. when i used to do it however thou, it seemed to work, but don't know the down falls to it, because it w as 5 yr back. :)

The down side would be overtraining. You need more rest time for recouperation/growth. You would be much better served to do a four or five day split workout. You can focus more intensity on the muscles, and have more rest time between muscle groups, plus less time in the gym.

Try to split up your muscle groups more. Training the same group on consecutive days or even twice in three days is too much in my opinion. I, personally, don't think that anyone should workout more than two consecutive days, irrespective of muscle groups. The metabolic recovery may be sufficient, but the central nervous system works as one unit and will almost certainly be overtaxed by three consecutive days of training.
