I read somewhere that Brad Pitt does high reps to tone his body. I also read that he's like 6'0" and 203 lbs. in Fight Club. I always thought toning was a female thing, but it seems to work for him. Can someone explain the difference?

I tend to think of toned as being more "ripped" (lean muscle mass) you would see the muscle definition more clearly, whileas bulk would be bigger/more brawn. Too add bulk your protein, carbs, fat and calorie content wuold have to be considerably more than if you wanted the lean muscle mass of a toned look.

ahhh...*Brad*.

Aside from that, Amazon's description is the same as mine would be, so I'll just add...it's pretty common for people to cycle through the "bulking" and "cutting" phases. When you read the article he could have been in the latter phase. I saw a pic recently of Brad Pitt in some sort of barbarian costume and he definitely bulked up for that role.

I think what kind of workouts we do depends a lot on where we are. Are we just starting out and learning the ropes? Are we past that and starting to try more complex things and lifting heavier? Or do we pretty much have the body we want and are just trying to keep it? No matter who you are or what you are doing, you can't do the same thing forever and expect results.

That is kinda the look I am going for- the cut look. Should I do high reps & low weights, low reps & high weights, or alternate between the two, doing one type one week, then the other type the next week? And what about diet?

high reps and moderate weights. well you could go with heavy weights but then you might not get the high reps you want. thats a good idea about high reps and low weights one week and the next low reps and high weight. but try to start with low reps and high weight to get some muscle to tone a week later. if that doesn't work week by week try to switch every two weeks instead.
