wow, just started a 12 week program...got through over half of my regular chin-ups...the other day...not TOO bad...Wide Grip Chins turn today...wea only able to do ONE!!! and not even three times (reps)...ONE single wide Grip chin...is this normal;...should I hope to be able to do at three next time this one comes around...am supposed to 12 - 10 - 8!!! What are they trying to kill me?!? lol
Is this normal?:(

They do tend to be much more difficult. Does your gym have an assisted pull-up machine? I think it would be more beneficial to use that than to give up after 1. At least then you can build yourself up to 12-10-8.
Once you're able to do a few of them with good form they're awesome. Great back building stuff.

I noticed the same thing in my program and most of my co-workers said the same thing..."10 PULL UPS RIGHT AWAY?!?!?!" Give me a break. Try doing multiple sets of 1 pull ups or multiple sets of 2-3 pull ups until you reach a total of 10 in between your other excercises. Don't worry about the wide grip too much. As you get better at the regular grip pull ups, the wide grip one's will get easier. Good luck.

Yeah lay off the assisted and go for singles then doubles and etc.
I did use the assisted and it just held me back so I just forced myself to get to a consistent set of 6 to 8 4 times then I started to add weight.
Last night was back and shoulders so I went 5 sets on the Pull-ups with my dip belt on and 1st set was a set of 3 with 25 pounds and dropped 5 pounds for each set to come until I was at a set of 3 with 5 pounds.
That was my 1st routine and then I did T-Bar Rows in sets of 8 to 9 and the Cable Rows in sets of 8 to 9 and the same on the Rear Delt Machine.
I moved on to shoulders then abs and had me a banana and a shake and went home lol.
Any way what works great for me is to go heavy 1st after a warm-up of the body then warm up of that muscle group then move on to lighter stuff of set of 8 to 12. This allows me to gain strength on the big lifts with alway come 1st and the work on muscle growth sets.
It's what I do and if I'm an idiot on how I go about it then please let it be said only by someone that knows there stuff like these Mods do here, They know there stuff and I'm sure I read in these forum that some have suggested this type of workout to others.
YOUR ONLY GOING TO BE ABLE TO DO 2 PULLUPS BY MAKING YOURSELF DO 2 EVEN IF YOU FAIL YOU MUST TRY AND THE NEXT TIME YOU JUST MIGHT GET 2!
I went through a faze for a few weeks were each week I got 1 pullup more without fail each week now I'm useing weight and adding each week.
Use Rows and Pulldowns to help you gain more on your Pullups.

Just DON'T SWING if you can't get 1 in good forum then by all means use the assisted Chins until you can do them clean without or if you have a buddy or trainer have them hold you feet and assist you.
