Please explain the benefits of doing cardio vascular set at the END of a gym session. Most of the trainers i have spoken to have instructed me to do my cv set at the start.
there are lots of different theories in favor of both methods. i used to always do cardio first because i was worried about warming up my muscles before lifting. now i do a light warm up (5-15 min) before lifting and then sometimes more cardio after or on a different day. i've found that i'm less likely to cheat or decrease the intensity the weights part if i'm not tired from cardio.
but the best reason i've heard is for safety - if you're really tired from cardio and then try to do weights you could drop a weight or use poor form.
It is mainly due to 2 things, first that you will be stronger on your weights this way, so you can lift more and get more out of your attempt at overloading the muscle to the fullest, and sencond due to you should be fairly if not completely glycogen depleted, so your body will literally be forced to feed on itself(use fatty acid stores) for glycogen needs. thus you burn more fat which is what you are trying to do.
