I am not sure what program to go with on the site. I am overweight, but I want to gain muscle and cut the fat.
The progressive gains sounds good, but when you go to the nutrition side of the program, it says your sound with your current state, so thats not me.
The description of the muscle mass gain, it says you may gain fat...which I don't need anymore fat.
Any words of advice/suggestions appreciated...
Also, how much difference will working out 5 days a week be compared to 3-4? You need a rest day, so I don't see how much a difference it can make.
Thanks!

Sounds like the weight loss and definition might work for you. You say you are not overweight, yet want to cut the fat. This would probably be a good starting place for you, get lean like you would like, and your muscle definition will show beter, then go muscle mass gains if you like.

3-4 days a week is better than none, and you will see good results even from 3.
Good Luck and welcome to freetrainers.

There is a funny thing when leaning out whn you are not significantly overweight. What actually seems to happen is that you actually seem to get bigger although you are dropping weight. remember that when it comes to muscularity alot of it is illusion or better yet percieved image. In addition leaning out allows you a couple of options, first it gives you an idea of what you look like with your current muscle mass, & most people don't really know how big they want to be until they actually achieve the muscular look first. In addition it is easier to maintain control of your diet when you are leaner, when you are packing on extra pounds during bulking phases & have higher bodyfat levels it is less obvious if you acciddently pack on a bit too much extra weight. when you are lean you can use your abs as a guide, when they fade to much its time to cut down a bit. As far as frequency, it depends on how much time you have, I have achieved similar results training 3 days as I have 6. If time is not the issue I would recommend experimenting with different programs some people actually do better training 3 times per week while others need more to produce results, you have to find out whats right for you.
