okay, major blow yesterday to my training. I had a food allergy test and it turns out I'm allergic to whey protein. I asked what I should do, since I lift pretty hard and I need my protein. They recommended soy protein powder, but I find this too thick when mixing. Does anyone have an idea of what I should do? Damn.

Check into rice protein. And you can take amino acids also.

You may be able to use eggwhite protein also, which is ideal anyway.

started with the egg protein. Problem is that, per my MD, I can only have a certain kind of protein every 3 days. So I've got soy and egg now. I'll try to get rice or hemp, I guess, for the 3rd kind. Crappy thing is that I can only have beef, chicken and turkey once every 3-4 days as well.
Thanks for your suggestions. I appreciate it.

Is it just eggs or dairy in general you can't have but every 3 days? If so, there are lots of good dairy proteins.

If you cannot do dairy, I would suggest investng in some calcium citrate. Much easier absorbed(needs less stomach acid) than other forms of calcium. And a lack of calcium can cause the body to overproduces calcitrol. This in turn promotes fat storage in the body. So, something to think about.

I can't eat anything more than once every 4 days (on a rotation diet). I'm allergic to string beans, chocolate, cow's milk and milk derivitives, lemon, peanuts, pecans, pork, potatoes, and tuna. Getting in protein is difficult. And keeping carbs diversified is hard. I've got rice, noodles, sweet potatoes... It's really messing with my lifting. I'm getting pretty cut, but I'm in a bulk cycle (!!!!).

okay a short update. I've got egg, soy and rice protein on the way. But I need a protein source for the 4th day. Tried hemp protein this morning. I couldn't stomach the taste. If cannibis plants have butts that we don't know about, then that stuff is made from the butt. It's truely the nastiest I've ever tasted. What else is out there? Anyone?

What is your sex? I would hardly recommend soy to a male lifter becuase of the result it has on hormone levels in males.
Micellar cassein and cassein casseinate will be two of the best types of protein you can get, but they are hard to manufacture and as a result, expensive.
No why can you only get each type of protein once every 4 days? You're going to have to explain this one to me...

apparently, and this is what I'm told by my MD, nutritionist and immunologist (3 separate people), my food allergies have to do with the way my immune system (mis)recognizes proteins in foods. In order for me to have a successful treatment, I have to go on a rotation diet to keep from becoming allergic to new foods. So ALL milk derivitive proteins are out (Whey, Casein, everything good and relatively inexpensive), and I have to substitute 4 different proteins to take on four days. I've got Soy, Egg, Rice, and goatein (the nastiest stuff this side of the hemp protein). I'm kind of settled on it, since I can't find much else. Thanks to 'bb1fit' for the help.
I am male, and I've not been convinced about a significant effect of soy on hormones. Not from the studies out there anyway (reading health studies is part of my job). But it shouldn't really matter if it's done once or twice a week. I think my prohormones will help me there anyway. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.
