I just wanna know when to take a protein shake? Just after a workout or an hour after, and why? How many times a day, say on a workout day? and rest Day.

For post work-out, you should consume the protein shake within 45 min, as your muscles need the protein to start rebuilding process. I also drink one b4 my workout. Remeber it is a suplement and make sure your diet is sufficient. Supplement=enhancement.

As Carivan says, pre and post training. I like to consume my pre workout drink while warming up, and my post workout immediately upon completion. These are both fast absorbing pure whey drinks. As far as how many times a day, on workout days or non workout days, depends on what it takes to meet your daily protein needs. But on either day, make them the same amount. Do not take less on your "off" days, these are actually your gaining days. you do not grow in the gym.
