Hi, I'm new to this site and so far I like it very much. I do have a dilemna though! I have been working out 6 days per week, 3 being cardio and 3 days being weight lifting.

Because of an old motorcycle accident ankle injury and not taking it easy for the past 9 months, I now have achilles tendonitis. I have to wear a cast that I can remove for a month and not do any cardio.

I am still able to do the weight lifting. My question is: what should I do to continue to lose weight? Should I do more in the gym or should I cut calories? What about carbs? Right now I eat a healthy diet with a mixture of carbs, protein and low fat. Help me! I'm afraid of not losing any fat and just gaining muscle. That would not be attractive. By the way, I need to lose about 20lbs to be at my goal. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Keep lifting as much as you can, muscle will help you burn fat and the calorie afterburn from lifting is longer than from cardio, so you may burn more calories during cardio than during lifting (and i would debate that, depending on the intensity of your training session), but weight lifting increases your metabolic rate for up to 48 hours, whereas cardio it is an hour or so.

A month isn't a long time, when you do get back to cardio, ease into it.

If you find you aren't getting results in the meantime, you may want to adjust your calories down by 100-200/daily and see how it goes.
