I've seen some posts by BBFit talking about this kind of muscle training and it seems to have something to do with the different components of the muscle makeup?
Can anyone point me/educate me as to what "hypetrophy" is and what I should know about it.
I have been doing the FT "Build Mass & Muscle" routine for 4 weeks (on free) and then signed up and have been on a new "Build Mass & Muscle" circuit routine for another 2 weeks and am just starting to see some results. I guess this would be called, "normal" lifting - opposed to "Hypetrophy" training?
Just want to make sure I stay on top of all this and I would like to sponge up some more knowledge.
Much thanks!

hypertrophy (as in muscle) Is the increase in muscle size as well as cell size from training, especially weight training. This is because of the adaptive process whereby the muscles add more substances (which I won't name)in response to the stress.
It's not a type of training, it is a result of training.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Ivan.
I must have completely missed the mark on this one then.
I thought it had something to do with the manner of stress / training technique being used (like slower lifts, etc...)
Thanks!

Hypertrophy is what you are striving for. Muscle growth. It is in basic form an increase in mass or girth, of a muscle which we induce by a number of overloading the muscle and forcing it to adapt larger to the stimulus from weight training.
Check out the sticky "identifying your goals" for different rep/set schemes for your goals. Use this as a base for what you want to accomplish.

Much thanks (again).
