Dips behind the back because of my weight is just too difficult for me. I can not hold my body weight up with my arms, I still weight around 280 pounds so what should I do?

If you mean you can't do them with your full body weight, this is one of those that you can do by decreasing the resistance. Instead of using the dip bar, just use a bench and put your feet on the floor in front of you. As your strength progresses, put a barbell plate on the top of your thighs. You can also increase resistance by putting two benches together and elevate your feet that way. It doesn't take long and you'll be doing your body weight.

lynhira,
You can begin by using your feet a bit to help you push up. This is not proper form, but will allow your legs to help your arms. As soon as you can, start using less leg and more arms. This is really a great arm exercise.

Lynhira, most importantly don't be discouraged. I had the exact same situation when I started, and they are still difficult. But they DO get easier. :)
Using your legs to help is a good suggestion. I never thought of that. :)

Gwin, you should be past that point! ;p I noticed myself using my legs the other day and realized what I was doing. Now, I cross them at the ankles while I cry..... I dont think those every get to the point that they are easy, and if they were, why would we do them???

Drat. I was hoping no one would notice that I shouldn't be doing this and I could get away with it. LOL!
I agree...I don't think they will ever be easy. But like you said, if they were easy, why even bother doing them. ;)
