I used the calculator and put in my one rep max which is 14lbs. I used my 10lb weight which I can bicep curl 14 times (14 times on the right, 11 times on the left) which brings me to complete failure.

The calculator indicates that after the first two weeks at 9.8lbs (2 sets of 10 reps) that I should increase the weight by .25lbs per week, gradually working up to adding .5lbs. At the end of the 14 weeks I will have increased the weight to 15.26lbs.

Is there such a thing as .25lbs weights?

uhm quarter pound weights are hard to come by lol. I think the numbers are more of a mathmatical computation and need to be rounded a little.

Thanks! I knew you would probably be amused, but I had to ask.

I don't want to hurt myself by trying to increase the weight too much. Mostly I don't want to have to admit that I hurt myself lifting a 15lb weight, especially if it was one of the pretty pink "girly" weights.

Start small, think big.:)

anni - they do make little magnets that stick to dumbbells and increase the weight by 1 - 2 lbs instead of jumping up 5lbs, but they are expensive and hard to find.
When you have to make a big jump in weight, try the first few reps with the new weight, then finish the set with the old weight.

Anni..they sell rubber weights, to add on, something like the magnets asimmer mentioned.
