hi, first post here:)
2 years ago i lost 92 pounds in 14 months (having gained 100 with my pregnancy 4 years prior) through weight watchers AND the gym. i started on the treadmill, but moved to the elliptical, which i love. and i do use some of the weight machines (i dont focus on my quads or calves because i feel i get enough from the elliptical)so i built alot of nice muscle tone!
anyway, i got pregnant again and had a baby 10 months ago, and have lost 50 of the 85 i gained this time. but its taken 10 months, whereas before it took 14 to lose almost double that!
my problem is i feel my size 10 body of muscle under there, but fat is now there too. how can i keep the muscle (without getting bulky),and burn the fat.
i generally use the "weight loss" program on the elliptical. it is 4 minutes of level 2 with 1 resistance, and 4 minutes of level 16 with 8 resistance. for 32 minutes. i also alternate backwards motion (by choice).then i go do some crunch machines, and inner/outer thigh/hip,arms,back,leg press etc...
does it sound like it is a good way to go about achieving my goal? i did it before i know, but is it different cause have more muscle now?
also i have read conflicting statements about when to eat "dont eat before, your body will use your fat as fuel!" "eat before, your body will use the food for fuel!" :( its confusing. also does it matter morning or night? before i had to go at night, now i have to go in the morning..is there a better time?

First of all, I would be doing the weight training before the cardio. Im sure there will be those that dissagree with me, but that's my personal preference to concentrate on the weights. Up you protein intake, and before you tell me "but im not a bodybuilder, i dont need protein", neither am I. But bodybuilders and wrestlers know how to cut fat better than almost anyone else. And to build muscle and burn fat, you have to have protein. Also, try not to lose too much weight at once. Aim for 1-2$ of your bodyweight as loss per week. If you lose too much too fast you will be losing muscle too. Hope that helps. That and drink alot of water.

thanks for responding :)well i havent really been trying to lose weight so fast, after a baby i think there is just some weight that will come off more easily at first (if you TRY to lose it ;) )
and so, why cardio after? i thought you are supposed to elevate your heart rate with the cardio so the weights will be more beneficial because of the elevated heart rate?
and i have the muscle ;), i want to burn the fat off of it LOL so, do i eat before or after.... :)
