I understand how important it is to stretch before my lifting routine. Some trainers at the gym tell people that all cardio should be done before your weight training. Due to past smoking, I find it very difficult to breath if I weight train after cardio. Can I do cardio after weight training?

I think most people do cadio after hitting the weights. I have found it is hard to breath and hard to lift also because you do use your arms while running. I always do my cardio after weight training.

Do around 10 mins of cardio as warm up, stretch, weight train and then if you still have energy left (and you want to loose some fat) do another 20-30 mins of (slow!) cardio.

Otherwise just put your cardio on your non weight training days.

I generally don't advise doing any type of cardio before weight training. Cardio saps into your glycogen stores, which is needed in weight training. If you can, do them at a different time of day or on non-weight training days altogether. If you don't have time, do them after weight training (if you have any energy left).
