I went into last nights workout(see my journal) feeling a bit pissed off, stressed out what have you. It was a ME or Max Effort night for legs. I usually pair that night with have deadlift work. SO I get in there and just realize that this is the lifting that I want. I do not care about anything else but increaseing my Big 3. I only hit 335x1 last night, a misjudgement on getting 3 sets of 6 before dropping to 3 reps at 315. I should have done one set of 6 2-3 of 3 and then hit the singles.
I still managed a great leg workout. Then it was off to deadlifts and the reason for this post.

I love the deadlift. I do not care that my bench is lagging behind, or that my squat is 455 for a max. I yearn to pull that weight. The plan was to hit 500 by june 30th. I know want to hit 550 by that point. My max right now is 475. SO it is a very steep hill to reach 550.

Why so much focus on the deadlift? I can only say that in my life I was only better at reading a book. I could read faster and read more than anyother kid I knew, that was my claim to fame. I know feel that with the deadlift I have something that few people reach or care to reach. I feel that I can finally beat Meanace3000 in deadlifts (even if he lifts them funny). I want it all! I want to push that part of my lifting till I reach the 1000lb mark! LOL

Yea 500 is a great mile stone, i'm looking forward to getting back there...

Word of caution....just dont' push yourself too hard or you'll end up like me lol.

But a suggestion, I liek to do dls....after speed squats....my legs are warmed up....but not completly taxed. The 1st 4-5 sets of dls I try to pull with "speed" doing 10 singles....

I finally pulled 405.....which was a milestone for me...since that is what broke me.....literally.

Sorry to steal your thunder.

I took a week off to get ready for this week. I may get to finish it off. I plan to try a 475 DL soon! Then once I hit that again 500 is right around the corner!

LOL thanks. I still have yet to meet someone that has read as much as I have. It has slowed down due to family life, but I used to read 5 books a week or more...now I am lucky to hit 2
