hi guys!

i'm a 5ft 120lb girl. i'm trying to burn away this flub and show the muscle that i really have. i'm very athletic and active. and have been since i was 4!

so due to a bad paycheck i am carless. :angry:

so i ride my bike to work 5x a week. 40 min each way. and before and after my bike rides i walk my jack russell terrier for at least 30 min. i lift 3x a week but i'm bumping that up to 5x next week. but i honestly don't feel mentally and physically good until i do my 40 min cardio session which would including elliptical/HIIT treadmill split.

i'm trying to lose this body fat and i'm wondering if all this activity is harmful to my metabolism?

thanks guys! :love::love:

depending on how long you have been riding your bike to and from work and walking your dog, your body may have accepted this as your normal energy expenditure.

You are exercising a little much with 40 min of cardio after lifting - HIIT is better kept around 20-30 minutes.
You won't build much additional muscle and you may catabolize the muscle you have with that routine.

If you Eat enough calories to support all but 300 calories of your expenditure daily, you should lose fat. But you will need to eat a lot, with the amount you are burning.

Look at www.caloriesperhour.com and estimate how many calories you are spending daily, figure out your basic metabolic rate and see what they add up to, then create a slight deficit and you should lose fat instead of muscle.

thanks!

i've been doing this for 3 months now. i don't feel tired. i only tire myself out only when i run hard.. or lift hard.

i'll check out that website. i only do HIIT for 20 min and i warm up with an elliptical for 20. so i'm not going crazy on my cardio. its just spread out all over.

well thanks alot.. i'll post my results if your interested!

okay so i caculated it and it said i was expending 791 calories by just my dog walking and bike riding! holy crap that's a lot because i know i expend at least 400 cals by doing my cardio alone.. not to mention my weight lifting.

i better eat more:big_smile:
