No sarcasm intended but I think you missed the point of the linke. There are several thumbtacked posts and a quick search will turn up hundreds of posts. If you aren't seeing your abs, your diet isn't clean enough and your overall full body workout isn't intense enough. Assuming you're doing a full body work out.

Well, got say at 5'10" and 150, I would say you have very little muscle now if you still don't have a six pack. You are going to have to lose even more to get the six pack you want.

Also to add, it looks pretty silly to have a six pack and arms and legs that look like they should have a message tied to them.

I'm not worried dude....just stating a fact. What is it you do that abs are most important, and other muscle means nothing.

other muscles dont mean nuttin im on a routine where i workout 5 times a week and have noticed that the abs part of the program is much weaker than the other parts when what i dont need is inflexible and large biceps or huge shoulders (all of which would be nice) but i mostly was just wondering why ive noticed abs being more negleted in exercise routines when they are very important for flexibility and controlling balance from your legs to your arms... btw seeing an extremly weak looking man with an amazing six pack would be pretty nasty look and i was over exadurating just a little bit when i posted this thread

What everyone needs is balance in physique for optimal performance in any sport/undertaking. This is what the body desires. (even in natural bodybuilding, this is what judges are looking for).

Neglecting other body parts is senseless. You must realize that just by working your shoulders, arms, legs, you will not automatically become 'bulky' and inflexible. Gaining muscle is a very hard thing to do, and takes tons of work, lots of food and lots of rest. If it was that easy to gain muscle, there would be alot more Mr. Olympia's around.

As far as abs not being an integral part of routines if simply by choice of the individual. Abs are a muscle group like any other, and part of the core group. Folks should always include abs in any workout through their routine, even once per week is better than nothing.

Twenty-nine muscles make up your body's core. Some of the major muscles include those in your back (multifidus, erector spinae) and your abdomen (external oblique, transversus abdominis, rectus abdominis). Your core muscles work in harmony to provide stability to your body and protect you from injury.

Your body's core — the area around your trunk and pelvis — is where your center of gravity is located. A strong core gives you:

Increased protection and "bracing" for your back
Controlled movement
A more stable center of gravity
A more stable platform for sports movements
When you have good core stability, the muscles in your pelvis, lower back, hips and abdomen work in harmony. They provide support to your spine for just about any activity.

A weak core can make you susceptible to poor posture, lower back pain and muscle injuries. Strong core muscles provide the brace of support needed to help prevent such pain and injury.

Yep, strong core muscles are a must, but muscular balance is still key for optimal performance in any undertaking.

So true, I have seen a few top heavy guys get swept down real easy by having pin legs, looks rather stupid too being all muscle on top and chicken legs, I mean real stupid looking!

You need to add resistance to your ab workouts. Put a 15lbs weight on your chest as you do crunches. Most importantly you need to watch what you eat. Even though you may be slim your body fat% could still be high. Mine is and I am slim, mostly cause I'm a junk food junkie. But..... Yeah, to answer your question, You need to add resistance to your ab routine and make sure you give adequate time for them to repair themselves.
