I'm on week 5 of Ab program. I start three sets of 15 twisting crunches. I read over the instructions of how to do this particular excercise. Here is a portion of what it says in the instructions. "Curl your trunk upward towards your knees twisting your at your waist as you go up. Point your elbow towards the same side knee. Do not simply lean forward; arc your body up with your waist, not your head..."

Does this mean, do one side at a time, hence, 15 reps for the right side, and 15 reps for the left? Or, when my body is arced twist to the right and then to the left, "Rocky" style?

Thank you again for your time.

I usually twist as I come up.. Twist up to the left.. then down.. then twist up to the right.. then down.. thats one rep... or at least the way I count them =)

You can do one side at a time or alternate sides. However, if it calls for 15 reps., that's per side.

Good luck! That was tough the first time around, but gets easier the more you do them.

Actually though this brings up a question I had. So once I do the 12 weeks, what should I do for maintenence? Just start the program over?

You could start all over again, or create your own routine based on how the program's exercises. You could also adopt a few more exercises that the program may not have originally included. Either way, you will still be maintaining a great ab routine!

So right now my program has me working out 3 days a week on abs. I can put together a program based on the exercises no prob. But how often do you think I'll need to workout? Is maintaining the physique as much work as building it?

Treat abs just like any other muscle group. If you want it more toned, work on them about 4x per week. Maintenance, at least for me, is about 2x per week...but I'll go 5 sets on the exercises instead of 2 or 4. I'll go 3x if I go hog wild on my intake on cheat day.
