That smokers thread and another on beer have been in my head since I read them.. the weekend 'splurge' thing has got to change. The loss of energy, motivation, and a workout day that comes after a few drinks, a few smokes is becoming more than just 'the down side' .. it's taking all my efforts from the week before and flushing them right down the toilet. And No, they don't float!!

I've been thinking about trading in my weekend vice splurge.. having that rich sauce I love on my pasta or the fudgy ice cream pastry puff at dinner instead of the beer/vodka/cigarette that inevitable multiplies over the course of the night.

Leads me to wonder: how bad is a big, fat, rich delicious dish on Saturday night going to be for me? Does it still come down to calories in/calories out, eat non-fat low-carb the rest of the weekend and double up the carbs? Or, the bigger question I guess, is whether this is still mud in the veins, just a different flavor??

I couldnt agree more Mutt. You need to give yourself a reward for all your hard work. For me it is pizza!

Hey Danielle,
Kill the smokes, first.
I reckon the rest can be worked off in the gym and through a healthy and clean diet most of the time. I put it down to averages: If you're eating better on average, you are better off than not. If you drink occassionally over the weekend you're in a better position than if you do it all week. And if you are working out regularly and burning calories you're gonna be in bettre shape throughout.
You will not have the body of an asimmer or that french lass, but you'll be OK.
If you smoke....well then you are going to die, no matter what else you do.

I think I'll always have a cheat day of some sort, I'm very reward-driven.. question is what the reward will consist of:big_smile:

I have been working the averages for some time now and they do me all right. Not more than a month ago I was breaking through a plateau, and then bam.. a heavier than usual schedule and one night out throws me off track.

Time to step up above average methinks.

The smoking thing is totally dependent on the cocktails for me.. beer-1, willpower-0. I'm going to have to not drink at all for a while to fully kick.

Sorry but I think you are right...having quit smoking in Nov last year, I know the feeling, hell just the smell of a beer and my fingers start to tremble. It's hard, but it gets better.

So stay away from the grog and I'm sure it'll help you with the smokes. I like to hit the streets particularly when I'm out of town and away from home, man are those days the hardest, booze, food, and the rest backed up by no gym etc and like you that wagon carreers down the hill.

Will power...yes well give me some when you find it.
