Hi, I'm a new member I'm 5'11'',190lbs 28year old male. I've lifted on and off since high school but never more than a couple months at time. But now I've been going good since November 2005 and I've already dropped from 225 to 190 just by working out and somewhat watching what I eat and stress of course. I would like to get bigger (muscle mass of course) and tone as well, Problem areas are chest and stomach . Now I know you can't do them both at the same time so my question is which is better to do first Tone and cut or size and strength??? Also I'm not trying to get like a sik pack or anything just better toned primarily chest. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

that is a loaded question. Without knowing you/seeing you, I can only give generic advice I give internet folks. If you are "ok" with your current fat mass, then by all means bulk. Be aware that you are going to add more fat doing this, so keep in mind you are going to get "fatter". Now, if you don't like what you see in the mirror(too much fat), then I would advise cutting down till you are happy with your bf% and then start bulking. Most fall into this category, but the choice is yours to make.

Thanks for the advice.
That's pretty much what I was thinking. I just don't want to lose a lot of the muscle I've got already and have to join a women's gym.(no offense ladies just kidding). That's why I've been going back in forth about it.

it sounds like you're pretty much satisfied with where you are. Folks like bb1 that compete have to bulk/cut on a fairly strict schedule. For those of us that are just trying to fine tune, it takes a bit more will power to cut over a prolonged time but you won't lose much if any muscle if you just tweak your diet and not drastically reduce.
