Hi everyone. I quess first I'll intro myself. Retired Dir or IT who sat behind a desk all the time. Female. 58 years old. Quit smoking 8 months ago and put on weight on top of the 10-15 pounds extra I was already lugging around. Decided to get serious about this around the first of April. Changed my eating habits and got myself a gym membership. Been doing the same old exercises for about 6 + weeks now. Trying to learn about fitness. Discovered, not good doing same old routine. Found this site. I'm in love with it. It's just exactly what I need to complete my regime. Thank you, Thank you and thank you. I've lost 17 pounds already but have another 24 or more to go. Besides,,I think I've found something I enjoy here and something that will keep me a bit younger as I patiently wait for my 28 and 26 year olds to marry and give me a couple of grand kids.

I am very impressed that you have taken on the challenge and seen such good results! Reading your posting makes me want to call my mother and get her with the program too. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. ISCHJLI, do call you mom. That's how all this started. My son kept at me to quit smoking and get healthier. Did it is a nice way,,,not too nagging or pushy. Told me he loved me and wanted me for a long time. Well, this is the results of his encouragement. And I do feel soo much healthier. So call Mom. Tell her how much you love her and that you want the very best for her.

Ok. off my soap box. Again thank you. Started the new program and love it. Oh, and quess what? Dropped another pound.

Thanks for the encouragement Judie. I will call her. I will encourage her to get in shape. If only we lived a little closer. She and I are 2 hours apart, so I can't run over and give her the little pep talk or physically drive her to the gym....

Yep, ischjli. My son lives 2 1/2 hours away from me. I know what it's like. Actually he's closer now. I live in Maine,,,he used to live in Virginia. So 2 1/2 hours now seems like a breeze. Good luck. Don't push mom,,,just let her know how much her good health means to you. :-)

Thank you Judie. My mother and I both live in VA (she lives in the DC area and I a little SW). I will see her tomorrow and begin PHASE 1 of Operation 'Positive Encouragement'. Thanks.
