I've been thinking lately about entering a competition. Maybe 6 months to a year from now. But I know absolutely nothing about them, when they are or how to prepare for one. Just looking for a little info.....

Go Justin!!!! Look up the NPC, the IFBB , and the NANBF online and see if any have factions close to you.
Decide whether you want to compete against natural athletes or 'enhanced' athletes, pick a date, start dieting 16 weeks out and I bet bbfit and I can give you a lot of step-by-step advice as you go!

go for it Justin. You can learn an awful lot in BB1's journal. It was fascinating reading right up to and during his last competition. He documents a brutal cut phase and covers alot of diet info as well. The last week or two is particularly interesting.

This is probably a stupid question but...Does natural mean no supplements at all, like no ZMA, Creatine, Glutamine, etc., or does it just mean no steriods/pro-hormones?

I'm gonna guess natural is without steroids, or other pro hormones but i could be wrong. I'm gonna go natural if thats the case. I was gonna wait till i was older but i figure eh what the hell might as well go for it now and get some experience. I've been working extremely hard to get where I am and now i wanna have something to work towards. Is it a good idea to go in to a comp. while on creatine for an extra pump? thanks for the support guys i appreciate it.

No steroids or pro-hormones, though there are those who know how to get around the testing.

First time out give yourself 16 weeks to prepare. Not giving yourself enough time will result in muscle loss every time. Good luck to you. Go to www.npcnewsonline.com and look for contests in your area at your prescribed date. You will of course have to join the organization, but you can do that the day of the show if you like.

Novice men.....and then your weight class. How old are you? You can always do a crossover into other classes also.

Just wondering, because there are teen classes and of course masters. For instance, I do a crossover, which means I compete in 2 classes. I compete in the Masters, and also in my weight class. You will only be able to do your weight class at this point.

Yes, diet for 16 weeks. You want a nice slow loss, and never having done it before(contest level dieting is much harder than simple "cutting as you will see), you will need that much time.
