I just tried the bent over rows on the machine I use at my apartment complex. It took some creative thinking as the machine isn't really designed to allow you to do them (or at least they aren't listed on the poster that they heave in there that came with the machine). I used the pulley that is at the floor (normally used for curls and seated rows). Then I did my pull downs and like you suggested, I lightened the weight slightly. I don't know why, but this made a BIG difference. When I was washing my hair afterwords in the shower, I could really tell that I had worked my lats well.

Another question. What is good for the inner chest. All I can do (I think) for my chest is horizontal and vertical grip bench press, butterflys, and standing cable crossovers (I think that's what it's called, where you start with arm extended down and out a little, and using the same pulley I used for the rows, come up and across your body). As far as I know these are the only chest exercises. So are any of them good for the inner chest area?

Thanks again for the advice.

Two things work for me on inner chest one is flyes with dumbbells and close grip bench presses. The close grip bench is usualy used for triceps but I find it hits my inner chest more so than triceps. ALso if you have the equipment do the bent rows with a barbell....but a pulley can work in a pinch.

yes. close grip is very good. gives you that split cleavage if you work at it. I like the close grip decline too, I'm not sure if you can do that or not with the available equipment.
