Well I'm not a doctor but I can tell you by loosing some fat you'll get a nicer and flatter tummy....

I guess you need to see a doctor to be sure (just don't hurt yourself!)

I have had 4 major abdominal surgeries ( I had 70 staples each time ..to give ya an idea of the size of the incision )

I have had no problem doing ab routines , or doing heavy resistance on the abs , or any sort of lifting problems.

My surgeries were approx a 12" vertical cut just above the pubic bone and a few inches past my belly button. I also have 2 6 inch smaller horizontal cuts.

So , ya might check with a doctor, but in my experience , I have had no problems what so ever.

Good luck =)
